Study 3 EFTPOS printer modem Our client, a major supplier of Eftpos systems, wanted to upgrade an early model printer (not designed by T + T). The need was for a new, faster and more efficient printer which could be produced in high volume since this unit was one of their biggest sellers. In addition there was a requirement that the new design included four variable electronic configurations and two printer mechanisms for the different international markets. ![]() Working with our client we developed a robust and efficient printer. The final printer unit has proved to be a winner in the marketplace. ![]() An interesting footnote to this project came during an international sales presentation in Italy. The sales pitch for the system was unfortunately unsuccessful but during the discussions they made an offer for the design of the printer. We were modestly flattered. ![]() Subsequently this printer won a Design Mark at the Australian Industrial Design Awards and was selected by The Japan Design Institute exhibition in Tokyo. The second item designed by the T + T team to be selected for this retrospective. |
