Historic Solo Dive
Tiller Design
Today James Cameron’s submarine descended and safely returned from the planet’s deepest chasm, the Challenger Deep fissure in the Pacific Ocean’s Mariana Trench, completing an historic solo dive. When Cameron reached the bottom he was almost seven miles from the surface of the sea.
On board his Australian designed submarine were two V200 emergency location beacons. The V200 was designed by Tiller Scientific + Medical a Sydney based product design consultancy and Mobilarm a leading global supplier of Personal Locator Beacons.
“Its very exciting to know that the rigorously designed and engineered V200 emergency location beacons were on board this historic journey to the bottom of the Mariana trench, our team can now claim to have products not only all over the world but for a brief time at the deepest point on earth. Proof we can work under any pressure.” Robert Tiller

New tool to aid sustainable product design
Tiller Design
To ensure even greater control and faster turnaround in the design process, Tiller Design, Tiller Scientific+Medical and Tiller Manufacturing have invested in new prototyping equipment.
Transforming concepts into products overnight, the BFB3000 is a 3D rapid prototype unit that outputs models in either environmentally friendly biodegradable PLA or various grades of ABS plastics.
“Our investment in the BFB3000 is paying dividends across each of our businesses. It not only supports our philosophies on precision and diligence in design, it ensures we have greater control of the development process and can own all liability and responsibility associated with the job. The end result? An even quicker and better job for our clients.” – Robert Tiller

Magnifying Beauty
Tiller Design
In order to make work easier for beauty consultants when identifying skin types and needs, Tiller Design developed a new magnifying glass that incorporates UV and white light technologies. Naturally it is designed to be comfortable to handle and intuitive to use.
Once developed, the product was passed on to Tiller Manufacturing who managed the ongoing certification, production and service elements of the process.
“This project is a good example of how two Tiller partner businesses work together to give clients an end-to-end solution. From initial consultation and concept sketches, through to electronic engineering, prototyping, product certification, manufacturing and even ongoing maintenance support, we look after the whole process. Ultimately we are giving Ella Baché a bespoke solution that sets them apart in the market, and is free of worry.” – Robert Tiller.
